The Circle of Seven lost another of its founding members on September 12, 2020 with the passing of Edward Agnew, past president.
The former Commissioner of Finance and Treasurer for the City of Windsor, he served under several Mayors, Councillors and CAOs, providing financial advice and supporting the municipality, its department heads, agencies, boards and commissions. He was also a prominent player in the Windsor-Essex community as a fundraiser, civic booster and of course a whistler, having performed solo, with performing groups and also with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.
Ed had a heart of gold, always lending help to individuals or organizations and putting the interests or needs of others ahead of his own; providing assistance or support for their issues and challenges. A very personable man, he was a pleasure to be around, always displaying a positive outlook and being the go-to-guy when someone needed help. Many community organizations benefitted from his experience, network and expertise on a broad range of issues. He was a mentor to many who worked with him, always having time for us before leaving to go home to his family.
The Circle of Seven was one of his passions for helping those in his community who were in need, or couldn’t help themselves; always looking to make a difference in their lives and make our community a better place.
Always in our thoughts…forever in our hearts…never to be forgotten…loved by many…
he will be sadly missed!
